Name: Demetrius Harper
School: Coe College (D3)

Q: How did you get started playing football?

I began playing a football at the age of 13 as an escape from my living situation at the time. My coach recognized in me natural talent that I had no idea i had. He nicknamed me “Speedy” and told me if I worked hard, I would have had a future playing college football and beyond.  My life changed that day.  I started getting looks my sophomore year in high school by Division 1 colleges and for the first time, I felt I had purpose in my life. I went to Iowa Western Community College out of high school, and ultimately ended up at a college closer to home.

Q: What separates you from all the other athletes trying to become a professional?

I take pride in my work ethic. I will not be out-worked and I will never give up

Q: Tell us about your college choice, career and what the recruiting process was like.

I ultimately ended up at Coe College because it was close to home, and I had built a relationship with the head-coach.

Q: What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your sports career so far?

My biggest accomplishment is transferring into a school and not knowing anyone and building that brother hood with the teammate and winning a conference championship and went 11-1.

Q: What do you consider to be one of the more important things you learned from the coaching staff?

I learned that you need to bring you A game every day, practice like you want play in the game and give it all you got every day.

Q: What is your biggest strength or X factor that you bring to a professional team?

I’m an indestructible player who will always give 100%

Q: Who is or has been the most influential person in your life?

Kenyon & and Michelle, because they have been the parents in my life I didn’t have growing up. They gave me a bed to sleep in when I didn’t have one. They made sure I was taken of and a part of their family even when they had 3 kids of their own.

Q: What are your goals with football? If football does not work out, then what?

I will not stop until I have had the opportunity to play at the highest level possible. It doesn’t matter where you come from. Every goal can be accomplished if willing to put forth the effort. I am willing and I will.

Q: How did you prepare for the National Scouting Combine and what are your expectations?

I been training with Ken McClelland. And my expectations are high because I know I’ve put the work in.

Q: What would be your ultimate achievement?

Making a NFL team and being able to go to work every day doing what I love.

Q: If you have to compare yourself to a current pro player, who would it be and why?

Adam Thielen, because like Adam I went to small school and I’ve been looked over by a lot of people, and I’m ready to prove a lot of people wrong
